Kingswinford-based Stiltz Homelifts design, manufacture and install the innovative, award-winning Stiltz Homelifts into homes around the world.
The company was founded in 2010 by two enterprising Australians; Lachlan Faulkner and Cameron Gillespie who had an idea for revolutionising the accessibility industry. They raised money to buy a one-way ticket to the UK to fulfil their dream, with Cameron’s father and brother simultaneously moving to China to set up a factory and commence homelift production. Why did they choose the UK? Because of the ageing population demographic and the prevalence of 2-storey properties.
The business started in Reading, Berkshire and within a couple of years, the directors started seeking a business angel to raise the funding needed to grow Stiltz into an international company. They met with Mike Lord, the Midlands-based entrepreneur who had headed up growth within organizations such as Sunrise Medical, Minivator and Handicare. Mike was so impressed with the innovative concept of Stiltz Homelifts that he agreed to become involved as Chairman, calling on his contacts to help expand the business initially into Germany and the USA.
With Mike’s involvement came the move from Berkshire to the West Midlands and a management buyout with founder Lachlan Faulkner remaining within the business, and the 3 other partners leaving. Stiltz head office was established on the Pensnett Estate in Kingswinford. The company retained a south of England base in Berkshire and opened a further office in Guiseley, northwest of Leeds.
Stiltz Homelifts has grown significantly in the intervening years and is now the largest homelift manufacturer in the UK. In the middle of the pandemic, the company relocated to newly-built, state-of-the-art offices also on the Pensnett Estate. The new building houses a research and development facility, training areas, extensive warehousing as well as enhanced office space in preparation for anticipated business growth in 2023 and beyond.
